With more than 25 years of experience in the field of education, Tamara Black has authentic knowledge of San Diego private schools both as an educator and as a parent. She keeps in regular contact with local private school faculty and staff, visits schools frequently, and keeps up-to-date on admissions policies and procedures.
Tamara’s background includes experience as both a senior administrator and a consultant for San Diego-area independent schools, a teacher for elementary, middle and high school students, and a researcher who has studied cognitive psychology and the effects of technology upon literacy and education. She has presented at conferences that include the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) Head/Trustee Conference, the annual meeting of the American Educational Research Association (AERA), the annual symposium of the Jean Piaget Society, and the Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching.
Tamara earned a B.S.Ed. in elementary education and a Ed.M. in psychology and human development from Harvard University. In addition, she holds lifetime certification in elementary education and as a reading specialist from the state of Texas.
Tamara provides unbiased advice and recommendations for families who are making critical educational decisions about their children’s future. She takes into account each child’s individual background and needs, and makes her recommendations with the best interests of the student and family in mind.
